During the last weeks so many people came to me and said how sad they are, that @btconf won‘t happen in Berlin this year. I am sad too. Really. Sponsors/Partners: do you hear this? Come back and support #btconf to bring it back to Berlin also. We need you to keep events affordable and make them happen!

Here's that calc-size() article @argyleink mentioned just now.
https://developer.chrome.com/docs/css-ui/animate-to-height-auto
Animate to `height: auto` is possible nowadays!

Excited for this talk by @argyleink.
I got a sneak peek yesterday, and this is gonna be gooooodddd! 🤩
Here's that issue about overscroll areas that @Una just mentioned.
https://github.com/openui/open-ui/issues/1457
I feel like they should probably be defined in CSS. See the issue for my reasoning here.

@Black_Flag Your post made me think of this other post I've been sitting with recently
Happy stock market scam day! Might not be too late to tell your boomer parent/grandparents that they probably shouldn't be investing in IPOs and specially this particular one (guess how I know its an issue…).
Cloudflare Security Insights system now processes over 120 scans per second, providing frequent insights for all customers. By optimizing Kafka consumers, Postgres queries, and our API, we scaled our throughput 10x without adding hardware. https://blog.cloudflare.com/scaling-security-scans/
At #CSSDay, we (@nomster and I) did a first public pitch of something we are currently prototyping: a way to add styles based on the active navigation.
Handy for View Transitions, and a few other things.
https://drafts.csswg.org/css-navigation-1/ is a WIP spec, with some bits implemented (behind a flag) in Chrome.
Claude Fable is kinda bad.
Explored it for 2 days now for variety of tasks and generally it's not much smarter but burns a shit ton of tokens over longer period of time.
So basically they just made the prompts run longer but it's not a linear gain. This kinda makes sense for putting a dumb agent to scan for 0-days with a 1m $ tokens so you can hack a web browser and this explains why they changed the sales angle from productivity to security recently.

I heard someone whisper that there are only 5 tickets left for #kirbykonf in September. Don‘t wait too long, if you want to attend!
There, I fixed it:
:root {
--masonry: grid-lanes;
}
.container {
display: var(--masonry);
}
Ferdinand Bolstraat is one of my favourite streets in Amsterdam, but the history of how it got that way was way more complicated – and interesting! – than I thought.
My latest video (out early on Nebula & Patreon) is about the history of this nearly car-free street.
