📰 Citizen Scientists Uncover 1,100+ Species in Scotland

📷 Volunteers documented glow worms, slime molds, rare lichens, and other species in West Cowal's fragile and shrinking temperate forest. This is the first comprehensive survey in ~50 years.

📱 Using mobile apps with GPS logging and AI-assisted IDs, 171 volunteers contributed over 3,400 records, creating a long‑needed baseline to guide conservation and highlight overlooked pockets of rainforest habitat.

🌧️🌳 These cool, wet Atlantic forests face pressure from invasive rhododendron and deer overgrazing. New data helps identify priority areas for protection and restoration.
